FPA The Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA) is the peak professional body for Australia's financial planners, representing approximately 12,000 individuals and businesses.
ATO The Australian Taxation Office is the Government's principal revenue collection agency, and is part of the Treasurer's portfolio. The ATO's role is to manage and shape tax, excise and superannuation systems that fund services for Australians.
ASIC The Australian Securities & Investments Commission enforces and regulates company and financial services laws to protect consumers, investors and creditors.
FIDO is the consumer website of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). ASIC is the consumer protection regulator for financial services. In this role, ASIC protect investors, superannuants, depositors and insurance policy holders. They also regulate and enforce laws that promote honesty and fairness in financial products and services, in financial markets, and in Australian companies.
APRA The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority is the prudential regulator of the Australian financial services industry. It oversees banks, credit unions, building societies, general insurance and reinsurance companies, life insurance, friendly societies, and most members of the superannuation industry.
FICS The Financial Industry Complaints Service is an external dispute resolution (EDR) scheme that was established to provide free advice and assistance to consumers to help them in resolving complaints relating to members of the financial services industry, including life insurance, pooled superannuation trusts, funds management, financial advice, stock broking, investment advice and sales of financial or investment products.
ASX operates Australia's primary national stock exchange for equities, derivatives and fixed interest securities. It also provides comprehensive market data and information to a range of users. |
